USS SHAMROCK BAY (CVE-84)

 

USS Shamrock Bay was a Casablanca-class aircraft carrier built and active during World War II. A busy carrier, she earned three battle stars for her brief but important wartime service. Below are highlights of her activities:

 

 

After the Japanese surrender, Shamrock Bay participated in Operation “Magic Carpet,” ferrying thousands of returning veterans home from the Pacific. She was decommissioned in 1946 and sold for scrap in 1958.
